Locally owned pop-stop Berrynaked is expanding to the ‘burbs. After a successful two years at its Inwood Village location in Dallas, owners Gavin and Heather Kim are opening their second – and now flagship – location in Richardson’s Canyon Creek Shopping Center, with a third location recently announced at Legacy Hall in west Plano, opening in October.
Berrynaked was created two years ago when Heather decided to make her own healthy frozen treats for her two young daughters. She went on to create an entire line of organic, frozen fruit pops in delicious, kid-approved flavors. Some Berrynaked popsicles lean to the healthier side, like Prickly Pear Lemonade, Hydrate (made with coconut water and fruit slices) and Carrot Orange, while others lean more decadent, like Chocolate, Avocado Coconut (which is also vegan-friendly) and Blueberry Cobbler with Pie Crust. And for extra measure you can have your pop dipped in white or dark chocolate.
“Our food is elegantly simple – we use natural and fresh ingredients in our popsicles and purées. However, our Berrynaked story isn’t only about what we put in our foods — it is also about what we don’t put in them: no preservatives, no artificial sugars, no color dyes, no processed ingredients, and no fillers,” said Heather.
The Richardson location is debuting a new product in the Berrynaked family – superfood-focused purée bowls. The bowls come in two lines, Soulful (healthier) and Sinful (more indulgent). Soulful bowls are made of different fruit purée bases and can be customized with toppings that include fresh fruit, hemp hearts, bee pollen, coconut shavings and more. The Sinful options are more dessert-like and include familiar flavors like Strawberry Creme, Cookies n’ Cream and Hazelnut-Butter Banana, presented in a waffle bowl with more options for sweet toppings and drizzles.
“Our Richardson flagship store is a bit different than our Inwood Location. We are not only introducing a completely new product line, but also offering more of a café experience with often-requested table seating and sofas with free Wi-Fi. We encourage any of our customers to enjoy a more relaxed environment, to study, to surf, to converse and to participate,” said Heather.
Grand Opening June 17
The official grand opening event for Berrynaked’s Richardson location is set for Saturday, June 17 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Canyon Creek Shopping Center. Enjoy music and family-friendly activities and giveaways from neighboring businesses. Berrynaked will donate 20 percent of Richardson grand opening day sales to the American Heart Association, which will also be on site, along with 20 percent of its Vitality Pops Series sales at both stores (Inwood Village and Richardson) for the entire month of June.
