Evan Hafer founded Black Rifle Coffee Company (BRCC) in 2014, but before that he served as a Green Beret – a U.S. Army Special Forces soldier – and then a CIA contractor. While serving in Iraq in 2003, Evan had his French press with him, and he brewed his home-roasted coffee for himself and his fellow soldiers. When he finished his time in the military, he knew he wanted to keep making coffee for his friends.

BRCC now has retail locations across the United States. Its roasting facilities are located in Manchester, Tenn. and Salt Lake City, Utah.

The company’s mission involves not only providing premium coffee to its customers but also supporting military veterans, law enforcement officers and first responders. With every coffee purchased, they give back to that community.

Staying true to its mission, BRCC made a promise in 2017 to give jobs to 10,000 veterans. Right now, more than 50 percent of its 300-plus employees have served in the military. Opening up more brick-and-mortar locations is one of the company’s methods to hire more veterans.

BRCC plans to open a Plano location sometime between January and March of 2021 at 901 Central Expressway, near the Collin Creek Mall redevelopment where TGI Fridays used to sit. It will be a full-service coffee shop with an indoor space and drive-through window.

Offerings will include espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, mochas, cold brew and a variety of flavored drinks available both hot and cold. The store will also sell breakfast food, sandwiches, salads, bowls, deserts and snacks like fruit cups and granola. Shoppers can buy coffee beans and gear there as well.
