After making the decision to permanently close seafood restaurant The Keeper in July, Front Burner Restaurants – who you can thank for delicious spots like Sixty Vines, Whiskey Cake, Haywire, Ida Claire and more – decided to transform the newly vacant space into an event venue. Captain’s Club at Legacy is a versatile rental space located on the north side of The Shops at Legacy in Plano, and is available now to start reserving for private events.

Front Burner’s leadership considered the COVID-19 pandemic when opening Captain’s Club, knowing that if people choose to hold events right now, they’ll want to do it in the safest way possible.

“In our private event space, you’re able to create the protocol you want. You can space out the tables, work with the service team to make sure everyone is kept healthy and safe. You’re not out in the public, and you can customize for safety,” shared Jordan Swim, president of Front Burner Restaurants.

Captain’s Club is designed for any kind of event – meetings, luncheons, weddings, rehearsal dinners and more. Guests can host a cocktail party there for almost 300 people, and a seated dinner for 150 people. Within the building, there’s a lounge area, bar seating, dining area and The Captain’s Room, a more intimate dining space perfect for a work luncheon. Furniture is included, so when booking, guests don’t have to deal with renting tables or chairs. And The Keeper’s beautiful, nautical-themed interior design remains, obviously inspiring the new name.

A major perk of renting the space is that the client can order catering from any local Front Burner restaurant, as well as Vestals Catering, the business launched by Jordan Swims. Modern Pour provides bartending and custom cocktail catering services.

“We believe this is the future of events. Highly customizable, private, with safety at the forefront,” Jordan said. “And people’s life events are not stopping. People are still getting married, having babies and losing loved ones. They want a safe place to mark that event. We feel that this is the right location for people to do that.”

Captain’s Club as well as the rest of the company’s restaurants are operating according to local jurisdiction, adhering to capacity standards with employees wearing masks and sanitizing regularly. In the event that another shut-down occurs, Front Burner has been working strategically to ensure it’ll be prepared.

“One of the things we’ve learned through all this as business leaders and hospitality innovators is that we need to always be evolving and creative in how we run our businesses,” said Jordan. “And Captain’s Club is the essence of that. It is creativity in the face of an unforeseen circumstance. If times get worse or better, that’s the central value we’re holding onto.”
