Earth-Kind Garden Party

To celebrate Earth Month, Whole Foods Market in Plano and the Collin County Master Gardeners present a foodie, gardeners and eco-warriors delight, the Earth-Kind Garden Party, on Saturday, April 8 from 11am – 3pm.

At this free, family friendly event, you’ll learn about composting with Texas Pure and earth-kind gardening with Collin County Master Gardeners. Even if you only have an apartment balcony, a small side yard or patio, you’ll get advice on how to grow your own culinary herbs and veggies in a container garden. You’ll not only learn how to grow delicious food, but you’ll go home with free coffee grounds to help fertilize your garden. Additional events include educational activities for kids, along with ready-to-plant seed strip making and paint stamping with vegetables. You’ll also get to savor and sample local and sustainable foods and wines.

For the fashion conscious, you’ll not want to miss the “Trashion” Runway Design Challenge at 1pm, where local businesses and non-profits will showcase fashions created from items that would normally find a home in a landfill. Participants signed up to walk the runway including the ArtCentre of Plano, My Possibilities, the Heritage Farmstead Museum, Ten 20 Gallery and Bottle and Bottega. All entrants will receive a swag bag, and the winner will receive a $50 gift card to Whole Foods Market. Plano Magazine will be on hand to judge the runway show, as well as A Pleasant Little Kitchen and The Barre Code Plano.

This family friendly event is free and includes refreshments and give-aways. Whole Foods Plano invites all to stop by and learn how easy it is to be kind to the earth and practice environmental stewardship. Stop by and learn how to live green and clean!
