Lee Zheng, director of design for Equinox, described the aesthetic of Equinox Plano as “a merge of modern with high-end residential.” She said that the club will bring together these two elements to give members “a warm and inviting space.” Walk inside to see the reception desk with a custom, grey-tinted mirror with walnut wood. In addition, the rich wood tones, vintage leather furniture and custom Italian marble throughout the club will feel more like a social hangout than a place to work out – all part of the plan to make you keep coming back for more.
“Equinox is a science-based and results-driven, luxury fitness club that is truly in a category of one,” said Sara Patterson, general manager of Equinox Plano. “We offer unrivaled signature programming, unparalleled personal training and bespoke spa experiences.”
The new Equinox Plano building was custom-designed and built from the ground up in order to “create the ideal physical environment to showcase the Equinox brand, from the façade to the interiors,” according to John Mears, vice president of acquisitions, real estate.
Although it is part of The Shops, Equinox is housed in its own standalone structure. Guests will find three floors of workout equipment and studios (including a yoga and barre studio set up for infrared hot yoga), a rooftop fitness space, an indoor lap pool, steam rooms, a luxury locker room (filled with eucalyptus towels, refreshing toiletries and more), a kids’ club, a juice bar by Fuel Kitchen, a rejuvenating spa and a shop filled with designer exercise gear and clothes.
“We’ve experienced consistent success with our existing Dallas locations, and Plano is the logical choice to continue our growth within the market,” added Mears. “Plano has the type of affluent, highly educated and active population base that is ideally suited for Equinox.”
Going for a run, lifting weights, working out in groups – these things are all more exciting at Equinox, billed as a place “where the science of fitness meets the art of living.” Jog inside the Precision Run Lab, with soothing lighting and music and customized Woodway treadmills, and air freshened with an 02 vaporizer. Or burn calories in the Cycling Studio, set up with stadium-style seating and an energizing ambiance. Afterward, your fitness data from these classes will be transmitted to your online account for you to measure personal progress over time via a mobile app.
If you sign up for personal training, experts will utilize your data and your unique goals to develop a completely customized training experience for you. It works like this: You are paired with someone who will best support your personality, you take a one-hour Equifit assessment and your trainer develops a special plan just for you.
