Angela Crowe has enjoyed baking treats for her dogs for many years. When Angela and her wife, Sandy Hollis, noticed that their dogs had stomach issues with store-bought treats but enjoyed Angela’s homemade treats, they had the thought that maybe other dog owners were experiencing this as well. In November of 2019, Angela and Sandy launched Fur Babies Bakery from their home in McKinney.

Instead of jumping straight into a retail spot, Fur Babies Bakery began selling at DFW farmers markets. When the pandemic hit, that model continued to work well for them. Their business even expanded into offering “bark day bashes” and “yappy hours” at restaurant patios and apartment complexes. Now, they’re finally opening their first brick-and-mortar location in Downtown Plano, in the former home of Pipe & Palette Home Outfitters and Mixed Media.

“We’re looking forward to launching and being a part of Downtown Plano. We love it down there. It was a goal of ours. Plano was our first choice for a location,” Sandy shared.

Fur Babies Bakery will now house a boutique in addition to its homemade baked goods, and will offer leashes, collars, toys, pet food and any other needs for your dog or cat. Sandy and Angela also have hopes for a dog washing and grooming station for the community to use inside the shop. They plan to open the business in February.

“We put genuine care and concern into the baking of our treats. The goal behind us having the store in the first place is to provide the best possible treats and snacks for pups, and…to make sure pets are taken care of,” Sandy said.
