Willow Bend Center of the Arts Grand Opening

On Friday, Dec. 8 North Texas Performing Arts (NTPA) held a grand opening for their new Plano location, Willow Bend Center of the Arts, located inside The Shops at Willow Bend. NTPA is home to four performing companies including Plano Children’s Theatre.

Willow Bend Center of the Arts is the largest youth performing arts facility in the U.S. at nearly 26,000 square feet. The facility boasts two mainstage theaters, two black box theaters, two dance studios, rehearsal and practice studios and dedicated set-build and costume space. The facility will be available to rent for performances and events.

At the grand opening, NTPA Founder Sara Akers with Plano Children’s Theatre Managing Director Mike Mazur, NTPA President Darrell Rodenbaugh and NTPA Vice President Steve Flad honored the patron supporters who generously helped fund the facility, as well as the dozens of “Project Willow Bend” volunteers who selflessly donated hours of their personal time to help construct, fundraise and market the project.

“Thanks to the generosity of the City of Plano, the Starwood Retail Group and The Shops at Willow Bend, and our other donors and volunteers, our new space allows for more learning opportunities and provides a much needed performing arts venue for the North Texas Community,” said Founder and NTPA Executive Director Sara Akers.
