Today Plano Parks and Recreation announced that Jack Carter Pool will reopen June 29. The department previously announced that it would not open its outdoor swimming pools this summer in order to restrict the spread of the novel coronavirus.

On May 26, Texas Governor Gregg Abbott announced water parks throughout Texas could reopen, allowing the City of Plano to reconsider the opening of outdoor pools.

“We have developed a plan to reopen the Jack Carter Pool that follows water park safety guidelines and reduces the risk to our patrons and employees,” read a June 8 press release from City of Plano. “With careful financial analysis and a coordinated hiring and training effort, we are confident we can reopen Jack Carter Pool for summer fun.”

The pool will be open daily to the public June 29 through August 9, and then open on weekends only through Labor Day, Sept. 7. Guests can make a reservation for a three-hour time slot, and each time slot will be limited to 250 people.
