‘Tis the season for company parties and holiday gatherings. What will you wear and, more importantly, how will you find time to shop for the perfect outfit? Meagan Wauters, owner of Lyla’s Clothing, is here to your fashion rescue.
Originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, Meagan grew up as the daughter of a successful entrepreneur whom she credits with giving her the courage to start her own business. Meagan moved to Texas in 2006, and started working at JCPenney in Plano. After nine and a half years in the corporate retail world, Meagan was ready to put her merchandising expertise and love for fashion to use in a more personal way. She knew her first step would be an online store, so the brainstorming began. Coming up with a name both creative and meaningful, Meagan combined the names of her dear grandmothers, Lydia and Laura, and Lyla’s Clothing was officially born.
In March 2014, LylasClothing.com was launched as a fashion boutique for women of all ages. In May 2015, Meagan opened her first physical location inside Marketplace Boutiques, located in Plano near Preston and 121. Lyla’s Clothing has quickly grown to include several more locations across the metroplex, including McKinney, Celina and Arlington, with a fifth location opening this December in Wylie.
Lyla’s Clothing offers “up-to-date fashions without breaking the bank,” according to Megan. Everything is on trend, but appropriate for all ages–teenagers and beyond. Meagan keeps up with what’s hot and visits shows regularly; she’s always one step ahead of the large department stores. She describes the style of her clothing as contemporary casual that’s wearable from 8 to 5 and after.
Most of the items you see on her website can also be found in her stores, and Meagan has been known to hunt down specific items for customers when asked. Jewelry, belts and scarves are also sold in her stores to compliment the clothing on display, which is especially helpful to those of us who are “fashion challenged.” Oversized sweaters are popular with customers this season. And although clothing is the main event, Meagan admits that her chic drink tumblers by Aspen Lane are top sellers–she cannot keep them in stock!
Meagan currently lives in Plano with her husband Jason, and the newlyweds are expecting their first child, a baby girl, in February. She’s an active member of the Junior League of Collin County and volunteers in our community on a regular basis.
