Made in Plano: Avigilon

This Billion Dollar Tech Company is Hiring

Many North Texas residents don’t realize one of the industry leaders in advanced artificial intelligence has a presence right here in Plano. Over on Plano Parkway, at a facility in an otherwise non-descript office park, the Canadian tech company Avigilon is cranking out some of the world’s most cutting-edge video surveillance solutions.

Within the Plano facility, Avigilon manufactures video analytics, network video management software and hardware along with an array of leading surveillance cameras. They are sold and used in as many as 120 countries around the world.

Last March, the company made news when it was acquired by Motorola Solutions for $1 billion USD. The huge deal was one of only three of its kind brokered in Canada over the last decade.

At a time where many companies have moved manufacturing overseas in an effort to save costs, Avigilon has been open about its desire to keep as many operations as possible within North America. According to company leadership, producing high-quality North American products that benefit the local job market is a top priority.

Long-term, the company plans to continue leading global growth in its field while also maintaining a local presence. Avigilon built the 55,900-square-foot manufacturing hub in Plano to take advantage of our modern infrastructure and transportation network as well as our abundant pool of qualified workers. All of the video hardware and surveillance cameras Avigilon manufactures are produced in Plano or in its second production facility in Richmond, B.C.

Today, Avigilon is building a diverse roster of homegrown talent in all positions. The company is always looking for tech-savvy workers who are ready to make an impact.

Avigilon believes that growing talent through collaborative initiatives affords employees the opportunity to make a real impact at their jobs and in their communities. Last year at the company’s annual “Avigilon Hackathon,” a group of junior team members designed a camera. Today it is one of the company’s most successful products.

It’s clear that at Avigilon, it’s all hands on deck. The company is always looking for team members who want to make a real impact within the organization and the communities they live in.
