Lori and Jack Hyslip, a mother-and-son real estate team, own the building at 4700 W. Park Blvd. It was previously home to a 24 Hour Fitness, but after the tenant left, they decided to completely renovate the space and open their own gym, Plano Athletic Club. To ensure they could provide the best service possible, the Hyslips brought in fitness professionals to work as consultants during the opening process and as managers once the gym is open.

“I came in when they first started looking at the space,” shared Plano Athletic Club Manager Jonathan Tafoya. “I came in on a consulting basis to explore all the options and help with renovations. From there, it expanded into helping with operation. I’m excited because we’re going out of industry norms. We’re making this an affordable club, but a club that is filled with high-end amenities.”

The Hyslips hope to make Plano Athletic Club a place that not only offers a high-quality gym experience, but also a place that cultivates community.

“This community is what is important to us. We want to provide benefits to them and have a back-and-forth relationship where everyone wins,” shared Jack.

The gym will be home to top-of-the-line fitness equipment for individual workouts as well as an array of group classes. They also hope to have a cold plunge pool, designed to stimulate blood circulation as well as help with any joint or muscle pain.

As they are still in the permitting process with the City, a firm opening date has not been set, but they hope to open sometime in the next few weeks. Currently, they are holding open houses and tours daily.
