On Sunday, Dec. 6, a brand new episode of “Supermarket Sweep” will premiere on ABC. Comedienne and actress Leslie Jones is host of the show, and Plano resident Andy Thompson will be participating as one of the contestants.

“Supermarket Sweet” is a reboot of the classic TV game show that follows three teams of two as they compete against one another using their grocery shopping skills and knowledge of products. After several rounds, the winning pair will compete against one another in the Super Sweep round, a race against the clock to find five products in the “grocery store.”

A specialized grocery store set was built just for the show, the shelves are stocked with big-ticket items, and the cash prize is bigger than ever. The winner will take home $100,000.

“It’s very intense and exciting, especially when we had to buzz in to answer a question or when rushing through the supermarket. Austin and I legitimately were so nervous we did almost 100 push ups in the back room before we went on to calm ourselves down,” shared Andy. “Leslie Jones is hilarious and we had so much fun with her. So much fun! Definitely a highlight of my pandemic.”

Tune in at 7 p.m. Dec. 6 to watch Andy, your fellow Planoite, participate. If you miss the live airing, you can watch the next day on demand or on Hulu.
