Plano Rotary Club Donates Funds for Inclusive Playground at Jack Carter Park

On June 17, the Plano Rotary Club presented City of Plano leaders with a $25,000 check for a new inclusive playground at Jack Carter Park. The playground is designed for children of all abilities to play, learn and grow together and will include experiences that involve movement, climbing and a mix of tactile, visual and auditory experiences.

The improved park will have ample parking, shelters and facilities with accessible restrooms. There is an assortment of ball fields and athletic courts for organized and pick-up ball games. The different areas of the park will be connected by a series of walking trails. The playground design allows all children access to the full variety of sensory play experiences on the playground giving each child the “just right” play challenges.

The playground is scheduled to open in spring 2017 at the site of the old Jack Carter Outdoor Pool (2800 Maumelle Drive).  The new pool, relocated to 2601 Pleasant Valley Drive, is expected to open July 9.
