My Possibilities Hosts 4th Annual Community Ball

Right before your very eyes, a night of celebration will unfold at the 4th Annual Community Ball, hosted by the Plano-based non-profit My Possibilities. The theme for the Saturday, April 29, cocktail-attire event is “The Big Reveal,” and local magician Trigg Watson will serve as the night’s emcee.

On this night, as founder and Chairman of the Board for My Possibilities Charmaine Solomon explained, it’s a chance for the community and donors to see firsthand what My Possibilities is all about.

The first full-day, full-year program in Collin County for Texans who have “aged out” of secondary education, My Possibilities helps adults with disabilities such as Autism, Down Syndrome, head injuries, etc. build independence and vocational skills in a safe and nurturing environment.

The students are known as Hugely Important People, or HIPsters as they are often affectionately called. As part of the event they will have an opportunity to dress up in formal attire, thanks to Men’s Wearhouse, who donated tux rentals for the guys, and the Prom Closet at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, who allowed the women to choose dresses and accessories free of charge.

Guests can expect a formal dinner, live music from the Georgia Bridgwater Orchestra, dancing and a silent and live auction. “It’s a fun party where the community, donors and our adults all come to celebrate together,” said Charmaine. “No one is a person with a disability that night.”

Although a magician will be present on the night of the ball, it takes more than hocus pocus to run the non-profit. My Possibilities provides scholarships to nearly all students, which greatly offsets tuition. However, with a yearly operating cost of $1.2 million – well, you can see why it is so important for events like these to raise money for the program.

Community Ball starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m. and will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Frisco. Tickets for the event start at $150, and can be purchased at the link below.
