The Texas Council on Family Relations (TxCFR) presented Plano-based nonprofit This Side UP! Family with the 2018 Meritorious Service Award at a luncheon in Plano on Friday, April 6.

The TxCFR Board of Directors created the Meritorious Service Award in 1981. The recipient of this award is any individual, agency or organization whom the board deems to have excelled in service and support to families and family life in Texas.

TxCFR is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) educational organization that prides itself on promoting healthy families. Members of this group range from educators to students, researchers to counselors and social workers to attorneys.

This Side UP! Family (funded in part by the City of Plano) was honored to be the recipient of such a notable award. This Side UP! Family continues to serve 600+ community families each year through their family wellness programs like Free Family Connection, Single Parent Support, Parenting Education and Marriage Enrichment.
