Why I Love My ‘Hood

PLANO-MAGAZINE-LOVE-MY-NEIGHBORHOOD-RON-KELLEY“I moved to Plano in 1996, and it has been an incredible experience for my entire family. We have enjoyed the excellence our city has to offer, with the great neighborhoods, parks, schools, walking trails, libraries and economic opportunities. I can’t imagine living anywhere else that could provide all our city has to offer.”

Ron Kelley, City Council Member
West Plano

PLANO-MAGAZINE-LOVE-MY-NEIGHBORHOOD-LISSANDRA-COMAS“One of the things I love the most about living in west Plano is being so close to Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. Not only to stay active walking, running or riding bikes, we get to spend quality time with family and friends doing so. As a new mom-to-be, I look forward to continuing the long strolls at the park.”

Lissandra Comas, Industrial Engineer
West Plano

“We’re pretty new to Plano having just moved here from Frisco in May. We live near Coit and Hedgcoxe. Where we live feels urban with all of the activities, shopping, restaurants, the children’s theater, community events, a little bit of funk and diversity and lots of friendly neighbors. Our neighbors, teachers and admins at the kids’ schools don’t even blink an eye when they meet me and my wife for the first time, which feels very nice and very inclusive. We love it here!”

Wendi Hollenbeck-Loyet, Writer
Central Plano

PLANO-MAGAZINE-LOVE-MY-NEIGHBORHOOD-MELANIE-TAYLOR“Our neighborhood is really friendly and family oriented. We love this area because the schools are top rated and everything is so convenient. We are within a 10 minute drive of Allen, Frisco, and all that Plano has to offer. Our family really enjoys the creeks, wild life, bike trails, parks, libraries and recreational facilities, several of which are walking distance from our house. We feel that our neighborhood and Plano in general are a wonderful place to raise a family!”

Melanie Taylor, Stay at Home Mother of Two
Central Plano

PLANO-MAGAZINE-LOVE-MY-NEIGHBORHOOD-HSUAN-CHIU“We love living near Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve, being able to walk the wooded trails and relaxing by the peaceful lake. Also, when we’re in the mood for theatre or local eateries, downtown Plano is just a short drive away. East Plano is a beautiful place to enjoy nature and the arts!”

Hsuan Chiu, Arts In Education Chairperson for the Plano ISD Council of PTAs
East Plano

PLANO-MAGAZINE-LOVE-MY-NEIGHBORHOOD-RICK-SAIGLING

“I live in East Plano, so it’s convenient to my sisters, First Christian Church of Plano, where I’m an Elder, the perks of downtown Plano and other shopping, Central Expressway, and Plano East Senior High, where I retired  from teaching after 32 years, yet still substitute teach there almost daily. I am deeply rooted in Plano. Plano schools named after my family are Andrews, Forman, and Saigling Elementaries. My great-grandmother’s house in Haggard Park is being restored by the City of Plano and the Art Centre of Plano, so I find that is a wonderful tribute to my family.”

Rick Saigling, Retired PISD Teacher
East Plano
