Collin College Presents “A Journey to the Ancient Hymns”

The Art Gallery at Collin College will host “A Journey to the Ancient Hymns,” an exhibition of acrylic on canvas works by Deepa Koshaley, June 30-July 21. The exhibition is free and open to the public. A reception is planned for Thursday, June 30 from 4-7 p.m. at The Art Gallery.

Koshaley is a Dallas-area artist who works largely in a non-objective style. Her work is strongly influenced by her faith and her Indian heritage. Art Gallery director Julie Shipp says that Koshaley does spiritual chanting during her creative process as part of a spiritual direction while applying pigment to the canvas

“Her approach has been shaped by a rootedness in Hinduism’s music, mythology, and symbolism – as well as with the West’s mostly secular conversation with painterly abstraction,” Shipp adds.

The Art Gallery is located on Collin College’s Plano Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Room A175. The gallery’s hours are Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. For more information, visit collin.edu/department/artsgallery or email theartgallery@collin.edu.
