Interested in joining our board or supporting Advocate Media?

President: Jehadu Abshiro, President and Editor-in-Chief of Advocate Media Inc – Dallas. She joined the Advocate family in 2018 and served as the Director of Digital Strategy and managing editor previously.

Secretary: Alessandra Quintero is the Chief Operating Officer of Advocate Media Inc – Dallas.

Treasurer: Rick Wamre is the founder of Advocate Media and served as the President for 30 years when the organization operated as an LLC. He served as the Chief Financial Officer before retiring in 2024.

Board Member: Mike Buchanan is counsel in Ogletree Deakins’ Dallas office. He is a long-time Lakewood/East Dallas neighbor. He serves as a coach for the Woodrow Wilson High School Mock Trial Team.

Board Member: Valerie Roberts Evans is a professor of practice at SMU, she’s been a journalism professor since 2015. She’d previously worked at WFAA as an Executive Producer.
