On Saturday, May 8 from 3-5 p.m. the ArtCentre of Plano is hosting an outdoor Mother’s Day Garden Party at the historic Saigling House in Downtown Plano. This event promises to be special for two reasons: it is an opportunity to honor mothers, and it is one of the first chances to reunite with one another after more than a year of separation.
Food and tea expert Kyra Effren will lead a presentation on the history of coffee and tea, while guests enjoy a sampling of tea-time treats by Plano’s Central Market. The garden party will include an art exhibition by Jerry Dodd, “Inside and Out.” Guests can also purchase raffle tickets for the opportunity to win baskets containing unique artistic gifts as well as an opportunity to bid on an original painting by local artist Kelly Steller Hrad.
All of this will be enjoyed beneath the beautiful oak trees in Haggard Park. Seating will be socially distanced this year, and face masks are requested when distance cannot be maintained.
“We had to cancel this popular event last year because of COVID-19,” said Event Chair Judy Drotman. “We know it will be a big hit this year as people are ready to get out and enjoy the beautiful gardens and spring weather.”
All proceeds from the event will support the ArtCentre of Plano, one of our city’s true historic and cultural gems. Beth Webb and her mother, Betty Schlueter, are honorary chairs of the garden party. Medical City Plano, Central Market, Taylor Rental, Judy and Bobb Drotman, Beth and Duncan Webb and Plano Magazine are sponsors of the event.
Guests are invited to bring along their mother, daughter or any woman who has been especially important to them. Limited seating is available so early registration is encouraged. The deadline for registration is May 4. The event is $40 per person. Make a reservation by calling 972-423-7809 or at the link below.
