CityLine’s Sweetest Spots

Life is too short to say no to dessert. Luckily for those of us who love to indulge, State Street in the CityLine neighborhood, situated right on the line between Richardson and Plano, has three extra enticing options for sweet treats any time of day. From massive donuts to mochi-covered frozen yogurt to cheesecake cookie cups, here are the best places to make all of your dessert dreams come true.

Top Pot Doughnuts

Equal parts doughnut shop and neighborhood coffee hangout, Top Pot has a laid-back community vibe that makes you want to place your order and stick around to enjoy it, rather than hurry back home.

Their menu covers the entire doughnut spectrum, from yeast to cake to old fashioneds, whether you want rings, bars, filled or fritters. Yes, the options (and the serving sizes) may seem intimidating at first, but the best way to enjoy these decadent treats is to get an assortment and share them.

Be sure to try their signature Blueberry Fritter, a twist on the classic Apple Fritter that started out as a seasonal menu item but due to popular demand was added permanently throughout the year. Another customer favorite is the Top Pot Ovaltine Latte, an espresso beverage that gives a nostalgic nod to the chocolate malt beverage reminiscent of days gone by.

On weekends, late risers will be happy to know they can still satisfy their donut cravings until 3 p.m. But the best part? Top Pot is open until 6 p.m. on weekdays, giving customers a sinfully delicious way to unwind after a hard day’s work.

Nestlé Toll House Café by Chip

Forget everything you think you know about Nestlé. Of course, they’re famous for their classic chocolate chip cookie (a solid stand-by and timeless for a reason), but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. This sugar coma-inducing paradise is so much more than a single cookie. It’s the answer to all of your dessert fantasies!

The shop itself is connected with Red Mango and open until 10 p.m on Friday and Saturday, making it the perfect post-dinner finale to complete your night out. Walk up to their glass case of delectable goodies and take a minute to absorb the options.

Cookies come in a variety of sizes, flavors, and shapes. Cup-shaped cookies are the vehicle for decadent frosting, cheesecake and even key lime pie. The brownies are as extravagant as they are mouthwatering. And that doesn’t even include the ice cream options…

A dozen flavors of ice cream can be enjoyed any number of ways – as a milkshake, float, sundae, cookie creamer (imagine a parfait but layered with ice cream and chunks of cookie) or even an ice cream sandwich with your choice of cookie. From simple to downright outrageous, these treats are sure to satisfy even the most indulgent sweet tooth.

Red Mango

For those who want to treat themselves without completely going overboard, or for anyone looking to cool off on a hot summer day, Red Mango’s frozen yogurt and smoothies are definitely the way to go.

The flavors on rotation range from the tangy Original to non-dairy flavors like Blood Orange and Kiwi to richer options like Brownie Brickle and Cookie Butter. Every flavor is marked with a sign designating which ones are probiotic, non-fat, all natural and gluten-free. They even include how many calories per ounce.

Customers can help themselves at the self-serve frozen yogurt stations to mix and match and even swirl different pairings together. The toppings and fun extras are completely customizable for as much or as little extra flair as you like. Keep things simple with fresh fruit and nuts, or embellish away with cookie dough bites, candy, mochi or sprinkles.

Red Mango even offers fresh juices to detox from all these incredible desserts, so every bite can be savored with the knowledge that tomorrow will make up for today’s cheat day.
