Collin College Plano campus to host Annual Collin College Guitar Festival

Now in its 11th year, the annual guitar festival will feature a performance by Duo Chinoisierie and classes/lectures on guitar studies.

Collin College’s annual festival, now in its 11th year, will feature free performances and classes for guitarists of all ages on Feb. 8-9.

Duo Chinoiserie will open the festival with a free concert int he Plano Campus Living Legends Conference Center on Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. The guitarists, Jing Xia and Bin Hu, combine Chinese guzheng with classic guitar in a blend of Eastern and Western cultures and musical interpretations.

The festival continues on Feb. 9 with a technique and master class by Xia and Hu at 9 a.m., followed by a lecture by Collin College professor Olga Amelkina on her newest work written for Duo Chinoisierie.

The festival is hosted by the Collin College Music Department and Collin College Guitar Studies and is sponsored by the Student Activity Fee Advisory Committee. The Plano campus is located at 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway.
