Haunt Jaunt Fun Run and Night 5k

Did you happen to catch Pumpkinhead sprinting at the Plano Balloon Festival Fun Run this year? Or jogging through downtown Plano on a recent Friday night? He’s the fellow with no arms (poor guy) and round orange head about 5 feet wide. He’s been running through Plano for weeks now to spread the word about the 4th Annual Haunt Jaunt, the City of Plano’s Halloween-themed fun run and night 5k.

Presented by the Medical Center of Plano, Haunt Jaunt is this Saturday, October 17, at Oak Point Park Ampitheatre. Proceeds benefit the City of Plano’s Adapted Recreation programs which allow individuals with special needs to participate in a wide variety of recreational activities.

Get your skeleton costume, light-up wig and running shoes ready, because this family-friendly event combines the excitement of a timed race with Halloween fun safe enough for the youngest skeletons and witches out there. Everyone is encouraged to wear a costume. Each child that participates in the one-mile fun run gets a free parent entered as well. Brownie points if you don light-up gear because the 5k happens after sunset. Runners are allowed to wear headlamps on the trail.

As if running in the dark in your Grim Reaper costume weren’t enough of a thrill, there is more spooky fun planned for the evening. Along the 5k route, there will be live creepy scenes performed by Dark Hour Haunted House, Dallas Cirque Theatre, Plano Dance Theater and other local organizations. Word on the street is if scary clowns aren’t your thing, you might want to pick up the pace.

All race participants can stuff their faces with free In-N-Out burgers. When your tiny friends finish the one-mile fun run, they’ll get a free goody bag from Chuck E. Cheese himself. There will be also be a kiddie costume parade with prizes awarded. Plano Magazine will have a free photo booth to capture your best zombie costume. On-air personalities from KHYI The Range will be broadcasting live from the race.

Enjoyed the race. I took my picture at the photo booth and didn’t receive an email with the photo. Did they already get sent out? I was a minion and I was followed by a photo of the king and queen of hearts.
Just wondering if the emails got sent.
    Thanks.
