Event Details

This one-hour service featuring musical performances and speakers will be streamed on Facebook at noon Jan. 18. This year’s theme is The Birmingham Campaign, and Dr. Cheryl Jackson, founder of Minnie’s Food Pantry, will emcee. Winners of the first annual Carson M. Doss Legacy Scholarship Art Contest will be announced. Mr. Doss founded the MLK Appreciation Day Service and passed away in 2020. The 2021 Collin County MLK Drum Major Award recipients will also be recognized.

Prior to the event, there will be other programs to participate in. This includes a Zoom conversation Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. with Cynthia Levinson, author of “We’ve Got a Job.” Colored Commentary, a podcast hosted by Markus Lloyd and Antwuan Malone, discusses race, Christianity and culture. Leading up to the event, several episodes will focus on the work of Dr. King. More information can be found on the Collin County MLK Facebook page.
