In honor of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Chef Gabriel DeLeon of Mi Dia From Scratch is debuting a special weekend feature, available for two weekends, dedicated to the cause. The special, which is available at all three Mi Dia From Scratch locations for dine-in and contactless curbside pickup, is Chicharrón Tacos featuring 24-hour sous vide pork belly on beet-infused tortillas with hibiscus onions, avocado creme fraiche, and micro cilantro. It is served with Oaxacan black beans, poblano rice and avocado-tomatillo salsa and is available for $18.
“Unfortunately, I have had to watch many friends battle breast cancer, as well as have lost my aunt to this disease,” said Executive Chef – Managing Partner Gabriel DeLeon. “I felt inspired to create a beautiful dish dedicated to raising awareness and honoring those who have battled breast cancer.”
Additionally, Mi Dia From Scratch’s margarita of the month has turned pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For the month of October, Mi Dia From Scratch locations will be featuring a beautiful pink cocktail, The Pink Wave, named after the aromas and flavors guests will first taste while sipping the tequila cocktail. Created by Juan Perez, the Bar Manager at Mi Dia From Scratch – Flower Mound, The Pink Wave consists of Espolon Reposado, St. Germain, lemon juice, vanilla agave, egg white, raspberry-plum puree and plum bitters and is available for $13.
