Event Details

Sunset at Memorial Park is a moving Memorial Day tradition as we honor the men and women from Plano who paid the ultimate price for their country. It will be held on May 27 at 7:00 p.m. Memorial Park is located at Custer Road and Bay Hill Road, south of Spring Creek Parkway.

Highlights include:

·        The arrival of patriotic motorcycle riders bearing 42 flags
·        A special reading of the 42 names of Plano fallen from WWI forward
·        Bagpiper and drummer
·        Flag ceremony featuring all five branches of the military
·        Performance by Plano Civic Chorus
·        Presentation of honorary folded flag to relative of Second Lieutenant Richard Vandegeer, the last American to die in combat during the Vietnam War.

The ceremony in coordination with the City of Plano, is organized by the Blue Star Mothers Lone Star Chapter 6, the American Legion Harding-Blaine Post 321, the Casey Joyce Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4380 and patriotic citizens.
