Plano Independent School District (Plano ISD)’s Board of Trustees was recently named one of five Honor School Boards by the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA).
“It’s a privilege to work alongside a Board of Trustees so deeply committed to student success and engagement,” said Superintendent of Plano ISD Theresa Williams, Superintendent of Plano ISD. “They dedicate countless hours to ensuring Plano ISD is grounded in a strong strategic vision, well-defined goals, sound governance and the resources needed to support student growth. What sets this board apart is their shared sense of purpose and respect for one another. Each trustee brings valuable insight and experience that strengthens decision-making and helps ensure all voices in our community are heard. Their collaborative spirit and high ethical standards have cultivated a culture of trust, transparency and excellence across the district.”
TASA’s School Board Awards Program utilizes a committee of Texas school superintendents based on support for educational performance, support for educational improvement projects, commitment to a code of ethics and maintenance of harmonious and supportive relationships among board members.
“It is evident that the Plano ISD Board operates at a high level of governance excellence,” the selection committee stated. “Programs like the Leadership and Ambassadors Program and Round Tables with the business community demonstrate their strong commitment to community engagement. It is this comprehensive approach to engagement that has led to ongoing progress and community trust to pass a bond and VATRE in the school district.”
According to a press release, the Plano ISD Board of Trustees was first recognized as a Top Five Honor Board in Texas in 2014. This year, the district is joined on the list by Colorado ISD, Galena Park ISD, Memphis ISD and Temple ISD. Each of these boards will be interviewed on September 12 at txEDCON25 in Houston, and one will be announced as the Top Honor Board.
