The base starting salary for incoming teachers is raised from $60,000 to $61,000 for teachers, nurses and librarians.

Earlier this week, the Plano ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2024-2025 compensation plan, which includes a 3% raise for all staff members and additional salary adjustments.

Beginning in the next school year, the starting salaries for teachers, nurses and librarians from $60,000 to $61,000, or $62,000 with a master’s degree. The teacher pay scale will also be adjusted from $350 between each year to $400 between each year, increasing pay for teachers with more experience.

For other staff positions, bus drivers will be compensated $24 per hour, bus assistants $17 per hour and special education structured assistants $17 per hour, a two dollar per hour raise for each of these staff members.

“With an anticipated budget impact of $7,594,301, this increase highlights the school board’s long-standing tradition of working to keep Plano ISD competitive in recruiting and retaining employees,” Plano ISD Superintendent Theresa Williams said. “This plan not only shows our appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our staff, but it is also an investment in the future of our district.”

This salary increase aims to keep Plano ISD in the top of schools in the area for base salaries for teachers.

Last school year, the United Educators Association released a comparison of teacher salaries for the 2023-2024 school year in the Metroplex. Plano ranked #20, with a base salary of $60,000 per year. The report also noted that Plano ISD pays teachers on a salary range dependent on experience, which could affect actual salaries.
