Where to recycle real Christmas trees and holiday lights in Plano

Lights can be recycled at Community Recycling Events and trees, garland and wreaths can be recycled at drop-off locations throughout the week.

Just as fast as the holiday season arrived, it will soon leave. For those already making a game plan for what to do with their holiday decor, the City of Plano provides recycling locations and events for real trees, garland, wreaths and lights.

Trees with no lights or decorations that are not flocked can be dropped off from December 26 to January 2 at Old Shepard Place Park at 1301 Winding Hollow Lane, Russell Creek Park at 3500 McDermott Road and Schell Park at 2305 Lauren Lane. There will be no weekly yard trimming pick-up during this time. The City also recommends placing emptied, flattened cardboard boxes with yard trimmings after this time to save space in your recycling cart.

Real trees that are dropped off will be recycled into Texas Pure Products, while lights can be recycled at Community Recycling Events. The first after Christmas is January 4 at First United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. to noon.
