Yachtley Crew, a yacht rock band, is stopping as part of their tour with a performance at the Lexus Box Garden at Legacy West next week.

The tour supports their new Seas the Night album.

“Yacht rock is music, primarily created between 1976 and ’84, that can be characterized as smooth and melodic, and typically combines elements of jazz, rhythm and blues, and rock,” according to an op/ed in Houstonia Magazine.

The band’s new lead vocalist, Ian Ward (or “Captain Ian”) joins Yachtley Crew with experience in theatre, television and international performance, including Rock Of Ages, RENT, American Idiot, Footloose and Jesus Christ Superstar at The Hollywood Bowl alongside Cynthia Erivo and Adam Lambert.

“We heard through our manager Andy Gould that Diane [Warren] was a fan of Yachtley Crew and is a fan of the yacht rock genre. When we heard the song ‘Pain Of Losing You’ we knew that we had to record it.  Honestly, it’s a dream come true to get to record a song written by someone as iconic as Diane Warren, and our producer Chris Lord-Alge knew exactly what to do to get it to sound like the Crew,” said Yachtley Crew.

The band also appeared on HBO’s “Yacht Rock: A Dockumentary.”
