Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar

It’s an undisputed fact that you cannot have too many steakhouses in any Texas city. With that in mind, Plano’s newest haven for carnivores is Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar. Open June 27 on the first floor of Legacy Tower (adjacent to the Shops at Legacy), the steakhouse offers another option where Planoites can enjoy quality steak, seafood and wine in a fine dining atmosphere.

“The last thing this area needs is another steakhouse…but we feel like Fleming’s is a little different than all of them,” said president and partner Skip Fox at a media preview night. He continued, “We like to say that Fleming’s is rare AND well done.”

Some of the indulgent features we tried at Fleming’s were the Bone-in Filet and Dry-Aged Prime Ribeye. With a beautiful brown crust, these steaks are so tender they seem to melt in your mouth. Others splurged on miso-glazed Chilean Sea Bass or Blackened Redfish. Though meat may be the main attraction, the shareable side dishes almost steal the show. Fleming’s Potatoes are a delicious concoction of thinly sliced potatoes layered with cream, jalapeños and cheddar cheese. And the made-from scratch cheesecake and Crème Brûlée had our table ooohing and aaahing.

Maeve Pesquera, Fleming’s director of wine, would debate that the wine is the most important part of Fleming’s–it does have “wine bar” in the name, after all. The award-winning Fleming’s 100 wine program is a selection of 100 different wines you can enjoy by the glass. You and your companion don’t have to compromise on which bottle of wine to split.

Your sommelier here is a small handheld digital screen: The Fleming’s wine pad makes quick work of digesting a lengthy wine list. Wines are split into categories with easy to understand descriptions. Plus, “all of our servers are trained and can recommend wine to you in a very approachable and fun way,” explained Maeve.

The interior at Fleming’s is modern and spacious. While some steakhouses may have you pulling out your phone’s flashlight to read the menu, one entire wall of Fleming’s is glass, looking out at the Shops at Legacy and the soon-to-be completed Legacy West development. With such a beautiful interior and remarkable menu, Fleming’s is primed to be your new go-to restaurant for memorable meals.
