Indie Summer Fair

Don’t wait until the Texas State Fair to enjoy live bands, sparkling jewelry kiosks and the mingling scents of cotton candy and corn dogs. The Indie Summer Fair, a vibrant carnival peppered with food, entertainment and shopping from all around the world, comes to town (Southfork Ranch in neighboring Parker, to be exact) on July 23-24.

Organized by event management company Full House Entertainment, the first annual Indie Summer Fair hosts an eclectic blend of fun activities. “Our goal is for the entire family to get out and enjoy the summer air with us,” Jaison Pullikottil, owner of Full House Entertainment, said.

Indeed, the fair has something for all ages and moods. Pick up terrariums at Energy Gardens or hand-made jewelry from Rework Creative. Browse as long as you like – all shopping stalls manned by local artisans are located indoors with air conditioning.

Step outdoors to visit a variety of food booths and food trucks, including the fair’s title sponsors Chennai Cafe and Stonz Lava Grill & Bar. While eating, you can also enjoy live performances from local bands, singers and dance groups.

Animal lovers can participate in an ongoing pet adoption drive at the fair, hosted by DFW FurGotten Friends. The fair also provides a special “Kids’ Zone,” where your kids can adventure into bounce houses and water slides, go rock climbing and even visit a petting zoo.
