Sweet shop Kilwins opens its first Texas location at The Shops at Legacy

This month The Shops at Legacy got a sweet new stop. Locally owned and operated by Frisco couple Alejandro and Milli Rodriguez, the Plano location of Kilwins is the brand’s Texas debut.

Open since 1947, Kilwins originally started as a candy and bakery shop in Petoskey, MI. Planoites can stop by The Shops at Legacy location for fresh fruit, marshmallows, pretzels and Twinkies hand-dipped in Kilwins’ proprietary chocolate recipe, or the signature Mackinac Island Fudge. Fresh caramel is also made in-store for caramel chews, caramel apples and bear claws.

Guests can also choose from 24 flavors of Kilwins original recipe ice cream, along with fresh waffle cones, hot chocolate, shakes, sodas, coffee and more. Special gifts will be offered for seasonal occasions such as Easter.

The Shops at Legacy will also welcome eateries bellagreen and the Original Chopshop this summer. Both Plano restaurants focus on delicious dishes that are also good for you, with bellagreen being able to cater to most dietary needs. The concepts will be located side-by-side at 5717 Legacy Drive, on the north side of Legacy Drive, near Potbelly.

“Kilwins, bellagreen and the Original ChopShop are the perfect ingredients to add to the mix at The Shops at Legacy,” said Jason Kasal, vice president, senior leasing director, south region with Retail Properties of America, Inc. (RPAI), which owns and operates The Shops at Legacy.
