Every Friday, a group of AmeriCorps volunteers heads to a different home in Plano. Known as the Plain-O Helpers, they may be there to change a light bulb, install a grab bar or build a wheelchair ramp — whatever task Plano’s older adults may need.
The North Texas Wildlife Center’s permitted animal rehabilitation facility is moving from a quaint residential neighborhood in Plano, since foot traffic has increased.

North Texas Food Bank wrapped up its 12th Annual Peanut Butter Drive, collecting more than $355,000 and approximately 85,000 pounds of peanut butter.
With last week’s stormy weather, several events have been rescheduled. RIP Fest will take place on Oct. 30 and For the Love of Art on Nov. 8.
Nonprofits like the North Texas Food Bank say they’ve been closely monitoring the shutdown to try and adjust services if the shutdown extends beyond October.
