The wait is over – the Chick-fil-A formerly at 8724 Preston Road for nearly 25 years is officially reopening at 8501 Preston Road on Thursday.

The new location opens for business at 6:30 a.m. and features an expanded drive-thru and updated design. The approximately 5,000 square foot restaurant will feature dual drive-thru lanes and additional parking spaces, a 98-seat indoor dining room, 16 outdoor seats and a designated pick-up counter.

“With our new restaurant location, we look forward to better serving Guests with an improved flow through our drive-thru and parking lot,” said Jay Schumacher, local owner-operator of Chick-fil-A Preston Road & Highway 121. “I feel so lucky to provide a place for all to gather, eat and feel at home in Plano. This community is home to me and my family, and I’m excited to continue caring for all who step through our new doors.”

As with the former location, Shumacher is a local owner and operator of the restaurant. Schumacher is responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 110 full and part-time employees, serving guests and cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses. The new restaurant location will welcome 30 new employees upon reopening.

According to a press release, Schumacher is a native Texan who started his career with Chick-fil-A in 1984. He was awarded a Chick-fil-A Remarkable Futures Scholarship during college and was selected as the local owner and operator of Chick-fil-A Sherman in 1992 upon graduation. Like many Planoites, he loves playing pickleball in his free time with his wife, Shelly, and children Emily and Haden.

“With our new restaurant location, we look forward to better serving Guests with an improved flow through our drive-thru and parking lot,” said Schumacher. “I feel so lucky to provide a place for all to gather, eat and feel at home in Plano. This community is home to me and my family, and I’m excited to continue caring for all who step through our new doors.”
Schumacher’s restaurant plans to participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need, according to a press release. To date, more than 23 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from nearly 2,000 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Chick-fil-A Preston Road & Highway 121 will be open for dine-in and carry-out from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and drive-thru from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
