According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, about 117,000 people in the Dallas-Plano-Irving metro are unemployed. To help lower the unemployment rate, area nonprofit Hope Restored Missions is hosting a free job fair this weekend in Downtown Plano.
The job fair will offer on-the-spot hiring, mock interviews, tips for resume building, professional dress, free lunch, haircuts and mini-massages.
Funded by the Texas Workforce Commission, Credit Union of Texas and DART are supporting Hope Restored Missions (HRM) through the fair. HRM works with people experiencing chronic homelessness by offering life skills, financial literacy, employment training, mental health counseling, healthcare referrals, job readiness support, transitional housing and veteran-specific resources. Each client receives a custom action plan to address immediate needs and lead to long-term stability, according to a press release.
“Hope Restored Missions is committed to ending chronic homelessness by addressing root causes, not just symptoms,” Executive Director Tamara Monroe said in a press release. “By investing in real, sustainable change rather than temporary fixes, donors become part of a mission that restores hope, dignity, and opportunity to those who need it most. Public support enables us to deliver consistent, compassionate, and comprehensive care that transforms lives and strengthens communities.”
The Spring into Work job fair will be held at 1947 K Ave., Suite B100, on Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is not required.
