The City of Plano is honoring former mayor Harry LaRosiliere with a Key to the City ceremony on Oct. 9.

Mayor John Muns will host the ceremony, with remarks from former City Manager Bruce Glasscock and Toyota Motor North America exec Chris Reynolds.

“Harry’s goal was always to reflect the soul of the community,” said Mayor Muns. “By presenting him with the Key to the City, we are recognizing that he is a part of that soul, and that Plano is stronger because of his inclusive and forward-thinking initiatives.”

The event will take place on Oct. 9 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Senator Florence Shapiro Council Chambers, located at 1520 K Avenue. A reception will follow immediately in the City Hall lobby.

“We are grateful for Harry’s years of dedicated service and the impact he made in Plano,” said Muns. “His leadership and commitment to opportunity, innovation and community service reflect the values that make Plano a City of Excellence.”

LaRosiliere served two terms from 2013 to 2021, becoming the first African American mayor in Plano’s history. He established several programs that are still active today, including the Plano Mayor’s Summer Internship Program and the Plano Peanut Butter Drive (now the Collin County Nourishing Hope program).

The ceremony is free and open to the public.
