Medical City Plano and Medical City Frisco teamed up to donate over 20,000 meals to nonprofit Kids Against Hunger.

As part of Medical City’s summer of service tradition, Medical City Plano and Medical City Frisco teamed up to donate meals and money to a North Texas charity of their choice.

The hospitals chose Kids Against Hunger, a nonprofit that aims to eradicate world hunger by packaging meals and distributing them to children and their families in 70 countries through partnerships with humanitarian groups.

Members of the Medical City hospital leadership teams assembled shelf-stable meal packs to be sent to communities across Texas and the world. The teams donated 20,520 meals, each specially prepared and packed following the advice of food scientists, with protein, carbohydrates and vitamins specifically developed for malnourished individuals. Meal packs also take into account the diverse palates of each culture’s foods, religion-related food restrictions, moisture-proofing, odor-proofing, and shelf-life.

“We share a common goal with Kids Against Hunger to create healthier tomorrows by eradicating food insecurity and we’re proud to partner with them for our summer of service tradition,” says Damita Williams, senior vice president and chief nursing officer at Medical City Plano. “As servant leaders, we are proud to work for a company that supports our commitment to give back to the communities we serve.”
