Study shows Plano is the sixth cheapest area for a gym membership

More than 80% of gym membership owners spend over $30 on their memberships though around 38% of Americans go to the gym less than once a week, resulting in $1.3 billion wasted on unused gym memberships across the United States. Fortunately for us, Plano ranks #6 in the nation for the cheapest area for a gym membership.

In a study by TotalShape, the average price of a gym membership was calculated across a list of 80 United States cities. The average national cost for membership was $44.98, $18.44 more than Plano’s average.

Among the most expensive are Boston, Minneapolis, San Jose, Tacoma, Oakland, Denver, Anchorage, Washington, Santa Barbara, San Francisco and New York.

Whilst exercise can be done from anywhere, a gym membership can serve as a motivating factor for your fitness goals, whilst offering a space to escape from everyday life,” a spokesperson for TotalShape said. “The disparities in gym membership cost across the states is shocking to see – some areas have a much more accessible rate.”
