With the weather regularly topping 100 degrees, there’s few places most of us would rather be than cooling off at the pool. Plano is the perfect place to do that, according to a new StorageCafe study.

The study analyzed the country’s 100 biggest cities to identify the best places for Americans who are pool lovers. The study was published on July 6, just in time for National Swimming Pool Day on June 11.

StorageCafe examined each city in terms of number of multifamily units with pool access, rent difference between multifamily units with pools versus those without, share of houses and condos for sale with pools, price difference between homes with pools versus those without, number of public pools per resident, and access to storage.

After these rankings were calculated and averaged, Plano ranked the most pool-friendly in the state and the 8th most pool-friendly in the nation.

Plano’s high ranking can be attributed to three different elements: 99% of apartments have pools, 1/3 of homes and condos for sale have pools, and there are three public pools per 100k residents.

Why pools? Swimming has many medicinal benefits, including building endurance, muscle strength, and cardiovascular fitness, provides a full body workout without causing impact stress to joints, improves coordination and flexibility and can alleviate stress.

Two other Texas cities made the chart, with Austin coming in at #13 and Irving coming in at #17. You can check out more information on Plano’s public pools at Plano’s Parks & Recreation website.
