Last week, Plano ISD appointed four new principals for the upcoming school year for the new CTE center, Academy High School, Shepton High School and Hendrick Middle School.

Jean Laswell was appointed the inaugural principal of the Plano ISD Career and Technical Education Center. Laswell comes to Plano ISD with a masters degree in career and technical education and years of experience teaching computer science, accounting, business, marketing and engineering before transitioning to administration, where she served as assistant principal and principal at CTE centers in two different school districts.

Josh Howard was appointed Academy High School principal, bringing a career as an engineer, a doctorate in educational leadership, eight years of math and computer science teaching experience, positions as assistant principal and two years leading Plano ISD’s CTE department.

Andy Jacob started his career in education at Plano ISD’s Larry Guinn Special Programs Director, moving to administrative internship at Shepton High School, 11 years as assistant principal of Plano Senior high School and coordinator of employee relations at human resources. Now, he will be principal of Shepton High School.

Kassandra Duncan is bringing decades of teaching and assistant principal experience, including the most-recent position at Rice Middle School to her new position as Hendrick Middle School principal. Her leadership style emphasizes building strong relationships, fostering positive school culture, and implementing systems that empower every student to succeed, according to a press release.
