Kids attending this week’s Plano Labor Day Invitational kids soccer tournament may come home with more than just stories from the pitch. Peachtree Publishing will be giving away copies of the new book “Soccer Trophy Mystery.”
It’s the latest installment of the Fred Bowen Sports Story Series. The 24-book series written by the popular Washington Post columnist has sold nearly a million copies. It is intended for middle grade readers. The books typically feature lessons on perseverance, dedication and working through adversity.
The new book focuses on 13-year-old twins Aiden and Ava and their good friend Daniel. All of them are avid soccer players. The three have just learned that their county league soccer trophy mysteriously disappeared 40 years ago from the town library and was never recovered. Between games and practices for the town’s soccer championships, the three friends try to solve the case.
The Plano Labor Day Invitational will take place Sept. 3-6 at multiple fields across the city.
