Next in short-term rental saga: Plano to hold STR study open house later this month

In the next phase of Plano's short-term rental study, the city is conducting an open house both virtually and in-person.

To continue open discussion with Plano residents, the city of Plano is hosting a short-term rental study open house on August 23 from 6-8 p.m.

The open house will discuss the recent short-term rental study, part of a six-step process to determine how the city should govern STRs. The study began with a survey this past spring, followed by the appointing of a task force. Now, the city is enforcing the third step, the open house.

During the open house, Plano residents will be able to share their thoughts and opinions on STRs, review information collected thus far in the study, ask questions about the process, learn how the task force operates and provide feedback. The open house will be held come-and-go style both in-person at event1013 on 1013 E. 15th St. in downtown Plano and online.

After the conclusion of the open house, the task force will reconvene and report findings to the Planning & Zoning Commission and the City Council. The task force and council will continue with outreach, task force guidance and focusing on next steps culminating in a final recommendation in Spring 2024 for the city to decide how to govern STRs.

For those who cannot make it to the open house on August 23, the open house will continue online until August 30.
