Top 5 things to do with your library this November

From preschool to professional, Plano Public Library (PPL) has something for everyone. Not interested in
reading? No biggie – PPL is #morethanbooks! Check out some of their upcoming events – in-person and
virtual – for all your educating and entertaining needs:

1. Get writing for National Novel Writing Month
(Adults)

November is National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, and the library has a four-part workshop for aspiring or experienced authors: The Write Workshop. On Saturdays from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Schimelpfenig Library, you will learn how to write rich and moving works by taking inspiration from history, mythos, art and personal experiences:

November 5: History & Events
November 12: Mythology & Legends
November 19: Art & Existing Works
November 26: Personal Experiences

If you are interested in meeting as a group to discuss writing, your current work and exploring new prompts, come to The Writer’s Block on the third Monday – November 21 – at 7 p.m. at Schimelpfenig Library.

2. Introduce your child to a new language
(ages 0-5 with parent/caregiver)

Storytime Around the World is a series of bilingual storytimes which introduce basic vocabulary words through stories, songs and movement activities – no language skills required! On Thursdays, November 3-17, at 11 a.m. at Davis Library, staff are presenting Storytime Around the World in Hindi.

3. Grow your small business with a solid plan
(adults, registration required)

Starting and growing a small business takes a lot of effort. Learn why and how to write a formal business plan that puts you on the path to success at Business Plan 101 on Thursday, November 10, 6:30 p.m., presented by Dallas SCORE. Register to attend in person at Haggard Library or virtually.

4. Learn about space with NASA
(all ages, ticketed)

Explore the Night Sky meets on Monday, November 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Haggard Library. Les Murray, NASA Solar System Ambassador, will show you what is up in the sky at this time of year, how to observe it and answer your questions about space, the sky and NASA missions. Free tickets are available 30 minutes before the program begins.

5. Build your branding assets with Canva
(adults, registration required)

Canva is an online graphic design platform, used to create social media graphics, presentations, posters, documents, videos and other visual content. Learn about the workspace, branding, making videos and more in this four-part virtual series meeting on Zoom on Tuesdays at 3 p.m. from November 29 – December 20. Register once for all four classe
