The culinary scene in Plano has gone gangbusters over the past year with delicious debuts at Legacy West, the Boardwalk at Granite Park and the newly opened Legacy Hall. Here’s a quick look at some of the most exciting Plano restaurant openings planned this year.

1 Café Intermezzo

Channeling the old-world charm of a traditional European coffeehouse, Café Intermezzo brings us a taste of 19th century Vienna with an all-encompassing menu to satisfy anyone’s cravings morning, noon and night.

2 Flying Fish

Keep it casual at this no-frills Cajun seafood joint. Flying Fish’s mouthwatering menu will have diners torn between fresh catfish, shrimp, crab legs, oysters, burgers, chicken and a whole lot more.

3 Fogo de Chão

This Brazilian churrascaria will continue its DFW expansion with a new location in Plano, delivering its fine selection of fire-roasted meats skewered, seasoned and served straight to the table. In related news, the corporate headquarters of Fogo de Chão is also moving to Legacy West next to this new restaurant site.

4 KĀI Asian Bistro

This fusion concept led by Chef Richard Chen will center around an open wok kitchen, dishing up southern Asian cuisine amidst a casual but elegant mid-century modern space. KĀI Asian Bistro will be open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

5 Kilwins

Kilwins Chocolate, Fudge and Ice Cream Shop is making its Texas debut. Indulge in the famous Mackinac Island fudge or try a heaping scoop of its Original Recipe ice cream.

6 Knife

Carnivores can already feel tastebuds tingling over the opening of acclaimed Chef John Tesar’s Knife. The steakhouse will feature a colossal dry aging meat box, along with a butcher shop and burger stand next door.

7 Mexican Bar Company

Rev up an appetite for this Texas newcomer’s creative take on classic Mexican street food. Expect handmade corn tortillas, freshly made ceviche, guacamole and salsas … something tells us this will fit right in.

8 Old Community Well

This event rental space (named for its intact water well from the 1800s) will soon convert into a cozy wine bar and wine retailer with an upstairs tasting room overlooking Downtown Plano. Stop by Old Community Well to check out live music and local artists while enjoying fine cheeses and small bites that complement the vino.

9 Rodeo Goat Ice House

Boasting house-ground beef and a slew of rotating craft beers and cocktails, this DFW powerhouse has Plano burger fanatics drooling in anticipation. Rodeo Goat’s beer garden will be a perfect hangout for summer days.

10 Tacodeli

This long-time Austin cult favorite is launching not one, but two new locations in Plano. Open for breakfast and lunch, Tacodeli boasts more than 40 different kinds of made-from-scratch tacos to the table. Bring it on.

11 Terra Mediterranean

12 Toulouse Café and Bar

Francophiles, rejoice! Experience the delectable charm of a Parisian cafe (without the airfare) as you dine on time-honored French bistro classics with a side of joie de vivre. At Toulouse, berets are optional, patio seating a must.

13 Urban Seafood

From the founders of Urban Crust and Urban Rio comes the new kid on the block. Dive into the shell-acious menu of oysters, mussels, clams and lobster, or pick up the catch of the day at its fresh fish market.

14 Whistle Britches

Bird is the word at this drool-worthy fried chicken joint. Whistle Britches opened in 2016 in Far North Dallas and is now migrating north to Plano. Expect crispy goodness and of course, biscuits and beer!
