Second annual Women of Power Symposium & Awards to feature Planoite speaker

Cheryl "Action" Jackson will be the keynote speaker at the 2nd annual Women of Power Symposium & Awards in September.

The 2nd annual Women of Power Symposium & Awards, presented by 24 Carat Speakers, will feature a keynote address from Plano’s Cheryl Jackson and celebrate several area residents.

“It is a great honor to host the Women of Power Symposium & Awards where we will celebrate amazing women who have successfully stepped into their greatness, while also inspiring and supporting others along the way,” said Lawana Gladney, founder of 24 Carat Speakers and the Women of Power Symposium. “It will be an inspiring day of powerful conversations, life-changing insights and successful strategies that can help elevate your life in all areas.”

Cheryl Jackson, founder of Minnie’s Food Pantry, will speak at the event, followed by a panel discussion that includes Destiny Pointe Christian Center pastor Renee Fowler, investment expert and founder of Alternative Wealth Partners Kelly Winget, and brand strategist Linda Ayaode.

On September 14 at 10 a.m., the symposium and awards, themed Step Into Your Greatness, includes awards fro community action, leadership, legacy impact, influencer, arts, “trailblazing,” journalism and radio. There will also be a panel featuring Opal  Lee, known as the Grandmother of Juneteenth, and Mary Scichili.

“This is an empowering event that unites like-minded individuals for a day of learning, growing and connecting,” said Gladney. “I am excited about providing an open and welcoming environment for forging these meaningful connections and relationships.”

The 2024 awards honorees include Cheryl Jackson for the Community Action Award, Cynt Marshall for the Leadership Award, Opal Lee for the Legacy Impact Award, LeadHERship Global CEO Linda Fisk for the Influencer Award, Oak Cliff artist Daisha Board, author and CEO Cheryl Williamson for the Trailblazer Award, legacy journalist Cheryl Smith for the Journalism Award and podcaster/radio host DeDe McGuire for the Radio Award.

The Women of Power Symposium & Awards will take place at the Vouv Event Center located at 4445 Sigma Road in Far North Dallas on September 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $125 for general admission and $175 for VIP admission and tickets are available online.
