Kouchan Ramen, a Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen chain popular in Japan, is opening its first United States location in Plano later this year.

Tonkotsu ramen is a milky-white broth made by boiling pork bones over high heat for hours. According to the website, Kouchan’s noodles are prepared fresh in-house and combined with a proprietary seasoning base, oversized slices of chashu pork and green onions. A spicy version with spicy miso and chili oil is also available.

According to the brand’s website, customers can customize noodle firmness or order extra noodles in “traditional Hakata ramen culture.”

The restaurant has 20 locations in Japan, one in Bangkok, Thailand and one in Seoul, South Korea.

Kouchan Ramen will open this summer (exact date TBD) at 4709 W Parker Road, suite 440, in the space formerly occupied by Parker Wellness Centers.
