The locker serves as another place for library patrons to pick up materials aside from the five library locations.

Plano Public Library opened a book locker at Liberty Recreation Center on Monday, allowing library patrons to pick up reserved books at the rec center in addition to the five library locations.

“We are excited to once again partner with our Plano Library team to bring Book Lockers to Liberty Recreation Center,” Assistant Director of Recreation Gregg Gagnon said in a news release. “This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to serving the citizens of Plano and is a great partnership that strengthens our community and expands access to valuable resources for residents.”

The lockers were funded by Plano Library Friends, the nonprofit that supports the library.

“These lockers are just one example of how community support can expand opportunities for learning, connection and discovery across Plano,” Plano Library Friends President Emily Moore said. “We invite residents to join us – whether through donations or becoming a Friend at planolibraryfriends.org – to help us continue bringing impactful initiatives like this to life.”

Users can reserve a library item online. Once delivered to the Book Locker, it must be picked up within seven days. Most items can be returned to the rec center
