The Plano location of Studio Movie Grill (SMG) will reopen Friday, Aug. 14 after being closed to the public since March as part of the closures related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The original dine-in theater chain adopted a phased approach to reopening its theaters starting in June, with just a few locations reopening each week.
Members of its membership program, SMG Access, will be rewarded with up to four free movie tickets for select classic movies, including “The Goonies” and “Iron Man,” when they book through the SMG mobile app. Once logged in, any SMG Access member can use the offer once daily through Aug. 23. New perks have been added to the program including points earned on food and drink purchases and the ability for contactless ordering from the menu.
“SMG is extremely happy to safely welcome guests back to movies on the big screen. We have a wide variety of films playing including classics and several new releases from smaller distributors, which are impressively driving pre-pandemic levels of attendance. New movies from the major studios are right around the corner including the highly anticipated ‘Tenet’ from Warner Bros,” said Studio Movie Grill Founder and CEO Brian Schultz.
