Nearly two years after the table reading, breast implant-themed comedy musical cleaVage is set to premiere during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

A little over two years ago, we sat down with Plano plastic surgeon Ron Friedman about his musical called cleaVage, a satirical performance about breast implants and their history. That very musical is coming to The Colony’s Lakewood Community Theatre throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, providing plenty of chances to catch it live.

“As a board-certified plastic surgeon practicing in the Dallas area for 30 years, I have an insider’s understanding of the fascinating and unbelievable history of silicone gel implants,” Friedman said in a press release. “That knowledge, combined with my passion for writing and performing music, became the perfect formula for bringing this amazing story to life as a musical.”

Because October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, cleaVage‘s performances will benefit Women Rock, Inc., a nonprofit supporting breast cancer survivors and awareness.

“Beyond that, there’s a message behind it,” Friedman said to Plano Magazine in 2023. “A message of celebrating people’s uniqueness and celebrating the ability to make your own decisions and decide what you want to do with your body or not do with your body.”

Tickets, which range from $20-30, can be purchased online. cleaVage will be performed on Fridays and Saturdays from Oct. 3-19 at Lakeside Community Theatre, located at 6303 Main Street in The Colony.
