City of Plano launches market research platform for local businesses

The free analytics tool includes small business insights, a high-level view of each industry, small business advising and a list of locally owned businesses.

The City recently launched SizeUp Plano, a patented online platform that provides free access to market research for small businesses.

The tool includes small business insights, comparing an individual business’s performance against similar businesses; a high-level view of how the business’s industry is performing; business guidance; and a tool to see “truly locally owned businesses.”

Launched on Feb. 11, the platform aims to level the playing field for businesses that might not be able to afford access to such metrics.

“In today’s information economy, in you don’t have access to market information, your business is at a significant disadvantage,” said Stephen Cottingham, economic development specialist. “With the launch of SizeUp Plano on the City’s Economic Development website, we are empowering our small businesses to make more data-driven decisions to optimize, succeed and grow.”
